Sigerio Pepoli, a descendent of the famous Saxon king Alfredo arrived at the court of Federico II in 1240 and was the first Pepoli from the great Bologna lineage to settle in Sicily, forming the Sieri-Pepoli line. His loyalty and that of his heirs to the imperial house guaranteed them title and estate, some of latter is still today in the possession of his descendents. In 1870 Count Agostino Pepoli, a dedicated scholar and patron of the arts, re-established and settled in the homonymous Torri which was already the avant-corps of the Castello di Venere. In 2005 Count Pepoli’s heirs opened the castle to select guests to transmit its history and legend.
